Open-air museum Mayrau in Vinařice
Our region can rightfully boast with one protected technical monument has far and white no parallel. It is an open-air museum dedicated to coal mining in the region of Kladno and Slaný situated in the village of Vinařice.

is located 9 km far from Slaný towards vermov and Kladno. If you
decide to go by car, you will drive from Slaný to Těhule, then through

From the open-air museum history
One of the best-known mines in the region
of Kladno - ´Mayrovka´. The idea to open an open-air museum of mining
arose in 1970s when the mine still was in operation. The aim was obvious
- to create an unique self-contained exposition of mining in the region
of Kladno, Slaný and Rakovník. This really extraordinary idea came true
twenty years later.
In the year 1994 on occasion of 120 th anniversary
of the mine Mayrau foundation a basic exposition was created in a room
with two mining machines. The exhibition was being enlarged step by step.
In the year1999 the open-air museum celebrated
the 5th anniversary of its existence and it really can boast with many
interesting things. At the beginning of the visit you will be shown a
document about the history of the mine. You can also see models of mining-guns,
light fittings and minaralogical finds. Then you will come into the training
centre of the Mining Rescue Service - here you can see simulated fire
extinguishing or a small exhibition of measuring and rescue equipment.
The visit goes on to the former shelter of civil defense in the Homole
hill - here you can see simulated mining operation with driving demonstration.This
year the mining buildings should be made accessible.
This technical monument is certainly worth seeing.
