Museum of National History in Slaný |

Former college of Piarists, founded in 1658, rebuilt in 1877 for use of the Grammar school of Slaný, nowadays the seat of the Town Library and the Museum of National History. The foundation stone of the college was laid on April 19th 1659 on the place of the destroyed houses in the square. The Chapel of Virgin Mary´s engagement was consecrated on November 11th 1666.

You can see the main altar from the year 1727 with the painting Virgin
Mary´s engagement in the photograph. The author of the painting was a
famous Italian painter Carlo Innocenzo Carlone. Begilded statues of St.
Jáchym and St. Anna by Prague baroque sculptor František Ignác Weiss date
back to the same year. The main altar arose during rectorship of P.Leopold
Čabák - an outstanding expert in astronomy and geometry.
